Black Crystal Lake; the history

As the story goes, Harrison Black founded the lake.

Who was Harrison Black? Harrison Black was Jonathan Ozryn's best friend. They had grown up together, lived in the same places -- Harrison even traveled with Jonathan in his quest to satisfy his curiosity. It's no surprise that while Jonathan founded Ozryn, his best friend got to help build the town up.

It was a rather early, drizzly morning, as the story goes, that Harrison took out to hunt for himself and his newly married wife. On his hunt, he stumbled across a lake, so clear, so perfectly unpolluted that it was like crystals. He took his knife and carved "Black Crystal" into a tree (A tree that still stands in the Crystal Lake Park!) and ran off to find Jonathan.

The story goes that the two best friends had a discussion about what to call the lake. Harrison wanted his name on it, while Jonathan didn't. But eventually, they agreed on Black Crystal Lake -- a way to ward off strangers who would hear the name and think the waters were black as coal. For those who live in Ozryn, though, Black Crystal Lake is the source of food, enjoyment in the summers, and drinking water all year round, even when it's frozen over in the winter.
